The suspension is too hard and the interiors are certainly not as good as AE make them out to be. Brendan, I think you may be right there. I actually heard of a speaker company that called a magazine and told them to give them better reviews or they would stop advertising in their magazines. Didn't Jeremy Clarkson also say that car journalists were buttered up and pampered by the car manufacturers, which in turn "demanded" good reviews. Having experienced first hand the equivalent BMW and Merc I can honestly tell you the interior Plastics overall feel a lot better in the Audi A4 and are of a better quality. I found the BMW to tinny and the merc to dull and flat. Audis are lovely cars to sit in. Its a special place for those that appreciate quality. The car is efficient and very solidly built with a lot of style and class. What more do you want?? Motoring magazines are also dependent on manufacturers for supply of test vehicles. Be a bit too honest and you may find yourself behind the Skibbereen Eagle or whatever, for your turn to get hands on the latest machine. Tens of thousands of in ads for AE, thats what makes ordinary into amazing. I really have to agree with you, sat in several Audi's, i just dont get it either, plastic <>some of it VERY suspect quality ] everywhere, v crap standard seat upholstery, v road noisy in SLine spec, even a lot of the ''leather'' <>like VW ] is imitation? plastic is plastic is plastic, no matter who makes it. As for interior design?. so old hat nowadays. As for EXTERIOR design?. I wont even go there. As for PRICES??? pass me the bucket. What nonbelievers in Audi or VW such as TestaRossa, brendan or, indeed, myself have to realise that it is extraordinarily difficult for AE to slag off any particular product without criticising those who buy these things by implication. Noone likes to be told in print that, in effect, they are lacking in discrimination, prefer dull to interesting etc. etc. Correspondents such as ourselves have more freedom and other magazines, who trade on iconoclasm, can be more frank as well. 锘? TDIe review Having said that, AE does need to repeat received opinion a little less.
