Of course York is well known for its shopping, with a great mix of independent 'boutique' shops and the high street brands you'd expect. Without a doubt though, 'The Shambles' has to be the most famous of all York's streets, with either side leaning so far that they almost touch at roof level! <br />

There are also a selection of excellent pubs close to Queen Annes Guesthouse. Many are situated close to York's historic city walls and have a good selection of local beers and real ales, some even serve excellent food at reasonable prices. Apparently, there are enough pubs in York for every night of the year! If you visit in the summer, make sure you make full use of the many outstanding beer gardens that York boasts, particularly the ones with views of the city walls and York Minster. <br />
