Meals like roasts, for one. Whether you use a beef or pork tenderloin or any other cut of meat, there are a ton of versatile options here. All you need really is a good pan and some imagination and creativity. This is a mealinone concept, and the pan serves as your vehicle to bring all your ingredients together. A combination of herbs, garlic, onions, and root vegetables, along with a shoulder of lamb (or two) is a grand but very simple meal that can go a long way.
While the best tools of the trade make your work in the kitchen easier and faster, there are other ways to reduce preparation time that fall more in the realm of technique.
