Open source web server developer nginx announced on Tuesday it is offering support for the WebSocket Protocol with version 1.3 of its web server software.
This has increased demand to support WebSocket across the Nginx community.
In contrast to the previous methods of providing realtime responsiveness over HTTP, the WebSocket Protocol allows users to create fully dynamic channels between the client and the application, as well as significantly reducing latency and conserving bandwidth.
And by adding support for WebSocket, nginx developers will no longer need to implement complex workarounds in addition to traditional HTTP communications.
