锘?6GHz Vs AMD Athlon 64 3700 It would be a a noticeable increase in the latest games, but upgrading would probally not be worthwhile cause you would have to buy a new mobo for around $100 and then $300400 on the cpu. If you have less than 1GB of ram then upgrade to 1gB before you upgrade the cpu, and if you play games you may want to upgrade to a better graphics card (of course depending on what you do have now) The speed increase will be noticeable, but only if you're using your computer for processor intensive tasks. If you use the machine for gaming, for example, you will notice a significant increase in performance. If you only use the system for the most basic of tasks, however, things will pretty much be the same. Now I'm realizing that you are talking about a 3.06. I think that the performance difference would be rather significant. I can't say too much, as I have never owned an AMD as of yet, but the benchmarks that I've seen show a 3500+ far outperforming a P4 at 3GHz. The 3700+ is even better than a 3500+, so that will only make the gap wider. I think that it would be a rather nice upgrade.
