The company is also touting its work in the community, saying it has donated more than $21 million and has volunteered 167,000 hours since 2005 with organizations such as SickKids Foundation, the Children's Aid Foundation and Doctors without Borders Canada. Locally, the Telus Toronto Community Board has contributed $4.5 million to 262 charitable projects and plans to donate $700,000 more to GTA charities this year.
"Telus' $280 million investment in the GTA over the next three years will enhance and expand the most advanced, fastest wireless technology available in the world today," said Telus spokesperson JohnnieMike Irving. "The demand for wireless services is exploding in the GTA and Telus is committed to making investments in infrastructure and technology to better serve our customers and their communities."
Telus is investing $280 million in the GTA over the next three years to enhance and expand its 4G LTE wireless network.
It's part of the $650 million in infrastructure upgrades being made across the province through 2014 and builds upon the $22 billion Telus has already invested in operations and technology throughout Ontario over the last 10 years.
About $4 million will be spent on the network in Mississauga.
