In this week's look at miscellaneous press releases and product launches, we have some USB 3.0 news from Super Talent and LaCie, plus word about new audio products from Scythe:We've covered the arrival of several USB 3.0 drives from Super Talent in the past, but the new, 8GB USB 3.0 Express Duo might be the most exciting yet. Despite its $14 price tag, the drive features a USB 3.0 interface and a top rated transfer speed of 67MB/s. Super Talent is offering a 16GB model for $29, too. Considering both drives will work happily in USB 2.0 ports at slower speeds, they seem like pretty solid bargainsplain, eightgig USB 2.0 drives are than the 8GB Express Duo.
Scythe announces new allaluminum Monitor Speakers. You might know Scythe better as a maker of coolers, fans, and drive enclosures, but the Japanese firm has other tricks up its sleeve. Earlier this week, Scythe announced a set of tiny, aluminumenclosed stereo speakers and a matching "Class D" amplifier. The Kro Craft Mini speakers cost $65, are rated for 20W of output, and measure a diminutive 4.3" x 4.8" x 4.1". The Kama Bay amp will set you back $53 and can fit in a 3.5" drive bay.

At $14 a piece, I'm almost tempted to grab one of those USB 3.0 thumb drives for myself. I think adding USB 3.0 ports to my desktop PC will have to take precedence, though.
LaCie brings USB 3.0 speed to the Mac world. Speaking of USB 3.0. Steve Jobs has thrown cold water on the idea of shipping Macs with USB 3.0 ports, but thanks to LaCie, the lucky few who own Macs with expansion ports can get in on the action anyway. LaCie has released Mac drivers for its PCI Express x1 and ExpressCard/34 USB 3.0 expansion cards, which should fit in Mac Pro workstations and larger MacBook Pro notebooks, respectively.
