The Irish are No. 1 for the first time since 1993. A win and they will play for their first national title since the Reagan presidency. A game that may be against Alabama.
Will the Irish also wilt under it or live up to their motto and "play like champions" to rise above it?
But this game also represents more. It was a year ago, after losing to the Noles for the second straight year, that Muschamp questioned his team's toughness. Now they are all toughness, and the big question is whether they have enough offensive "talent" to win.
College football royalty. Memories of Parseghian and the Bear. To those of a certain generation, it would be a sport of uncertainty returning to its natural order.

But in the really big picture of schools today positioning for their economic survival, Florida State is showcasing itself for a brighter future. The Noles feel they deserve better than the ACC and know that a good looking win over Florida could lead to just that.
For FSU it's about respect. The wins over the Gators in 201011 were against two mediocre teams. This time, Florida is ranked No. 4.
