There is no doubt that mothers perform an all-important leading role in the lives of their kids. They are the apparent heroes of child rearing. But what about a father's function? Just how essential are the dads of the globe in contrast to the almighty image of mom? My perception is that fathers perform just as essential a function as mothers. Different, yes.
