Chicago Fire get involved in community with clinic

"I think it's important to play with them, to joke with them," Fire captain Logan Pause said. "Because there is an affiliation with the Chicago Fire, it's important for us to get to know our own blood."

Several of the youth athletes who attended play for the Chicago Fire Juniors Florida teams in Collier and Lee counties.

Alex chimed in, calling Pappa her favorite as well. She showed up to the signing event after missing the clinic because of a tournament. The two were decked out in their Fire uniforms.

Eighthgrader Holly Fritz spent some oneonone time with her favorite Fire player, center defender Jalil Anibaba. "He came right over to me and started talking to me, gave me positive feedback."

Fritz currently guest plays with the Fire Juniors Florida U14s.

Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos honored many of the older fans' and parents' requests for autographs and pictures. De Los Cobos played his professional soccer career for Mexican clubs and for the Mexican National Team from 19831986. <a href=http://www.centurionsmc.org/time.html>red heels</a> He also coached the El Salvador National Team from 20062009. <a href=http://www.fingerlakestrivia.com/handbags.html>michael kors</a>

"For that reason, they know me and want to share a moment with me," de los Cobos said. "I really appreciate the attention of the Mexican people, the Spanish guys."

Outside of the Pub, the Fire players sat at tables, signing autographs and taking pictures with local fans. The team handed out photos and pennants for fans to have signed.

"Our job is to be here and mingle," Pause said.

Christian Orantes, 16, was first in line and excited to see the professional team. "I came here to see some of my favorite players, Marco Pappa and Patrick Nyarko. They are key players on the team that play really well," Orantes said.

Jacob Smith, 11, dragged his sister Brooke, 13, to the meet and greet with the players. A goalkeeper for a Fire Juniors <a href=http://www.leffs.com/best.html>www.leffs.com/best.html</a> Florida squad, Jacob likes to watch the senior team's keeper, Sean Johnson, the most. The siblings left with their hands full of autographed pictures, Tshirts and a poster.

Pause said the team was happy to spend some time with a community that has been <a href=http://www.osuwrfc.com/only.html>www.osuwrfc.com/only.html</a> so welcoming during its stay at Ave Maria for preseason.

"It's a good setup for what we're trying to achieve at this stage," Pause said. "We've enjoyed our stay thus far, and are looking forward to our last week."
