how long in advance do you have to order.. bridesmaid dresses i have 5 bridesmaids and not sure when to have them go into to have them try them on and order. hiya, there is a website called weddingsday. this site will not only tell you when you should be ordering bridesmaid dresses, it will tell you when you should be arranging everything step by step.start having a look at bridesmaid dresses, and ask your bridesmaids what they would like. i wanted my bridesmaids in cocktail style dresses as were all in our 20s and that is what is us but after asking, i found out they really wanted length dresses. once you an idea for the type of dress and colour, when it comes to ordering etc, youll be one step.. usually order them 5-6 months before depending on where they are coming from and how long delivery is. its different with different stores.if you think you may need a ton of alterations done try 6-7 months in advance just to be safe.. at least 6 weeks to give the shop time to order the dresses and dye them all toher so they are the same color. (if thats the way youre going). then you need to allow for alterations if necessary.. i think it was 6-8 weeks call and ask the bridal shop to make sure. you want to leave lead time after that for alterations or in case something goes wrong with the order.. i had mine go in early december and my wedding is in march. their dresses came in in mid-january, even though it was estimated they may not come in until early febrauary but none of them need alterations. id say 3-4 months.. 6 months. i am going for the 6 month mark as 2 of my girls are oot and all the posting and alterations will add alot to any order time. i wouldnt leave it any later than 4 months unless you are buying off the rack.. ask the bridal shop, because only they know how long each designer takes to send the dresses. remember they all have to be ordered at the same time and from the same store or they wont be dyed the same exact color.. its a good idea to have the first meetings for dresses 6 months before the wedding. the dresses can then be ordered, or made to measure, which takes about 2 months and then there is time for two fittings before the big day (the last one a week or two before).. my wedding is set for july 11, 2009. i was told by the bridal shop to order the dresses before valentines day because they a rush of people coming in (due to the large amount of engagements between christmas and valentines). i also have 5 bridesmaids and were spending a day doing the dress thing on january 31st. in my instance it will be about 5 months before my wedding that the dresses are ordered.. i am ting married in june and having 5 cheap celebrity dresseses made to measure now, they tell me they should be ready end of feb.good luck.
