'Bachata King' Partners With Voto Latino VIDEO
The 30yearold Bronxborn artist spoke to Soledad O'Brien on CNN this morning about his partnership with Voto Latino, a nonpartisan organization cofounded by Rosario Dawson. During Santos' nationwide tour, Voto Latino will be on location at most of his concerts to join up voters.
"As a performer, many men and women check out me like the role model," Santos told O'Brien. "I can encourage my young fans, the vast majority of my young fans and Latinos, to vote."
Santos released his first solo album Formula Vol. One out of November, and they have been a within the Billboard Latin Songs chart since "Promise," Santos' collaboration with Usher, climbed up in December.
The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that 21.7 million Hispanics are considered to vote during the upcoming election. Yet, for some every one will demonstrate to up en masse to vote.
Throughout the 2008 presidential election, Latinos represented only 9 % about the electorate. Although higher than 6.6 000 0000 Latinos voted with the 2010 midterm elections as outlined by a Pew report, the minority encompassed fewer than 7 percent of voters.
