Naturally, both OpenCL and DirectCompute programming interfaces allow generalpurpose software to jog on graphics processors no matter what their manufacturer. In principle, since both AMD and Nvidia graphics chips develop the two technologies, AMD's initiative shouldn't contribute to games that require one specific label of card for hardwareaccelerated physics to focus the "Open Physics" moniker, presumably. Nvidia's PhysX API currently works only on Nvidia GPUs, by comparison.
Latest AMD game physics push brings soft
Furthermore, Pixelux has "tightly integrated" Digital Molecular Matter using Bullet Physics programming interface, which AMD's September 30 announcement centered. The integration will let developers "integrate physics simulation into titles operating on both OpenCL and DirectComputecapable platforms," the announcement says. (Once understand it, Bullet Physics handles rigidbody physics computations, while DMM supports soft body dynamics.)
Today's announcement doesn't name any highprofile titles intended to employ this Open Physics push. Nevertheless, AMD notes that both Digital Molecular Matter and Bullet Physics middleware go with Trinigy's Vision Engine, which powers, among other titles, The Settlers 7: Paths for your Kingdom by Ubisoft.
AMD's Open Physics initiative is always going. Under six months time after announcing its partnership with Pixelux, AMD has now posted another pr release to converse it, Pixelux, and Bullet Physics, are giving game developers accessibility newest turmoil Pixelux's Digital Molecular Matter physics middleware.
