| can i join the dep program for the marine corps until i lose weight quick . . . i am female, 25, 55 , 200 lbs, need to lose 50 lbs. can i go see a recruiter and join the marine corps and be in the dep until i lose the weight or do i need to wait until i lose weight to even talk to a recruiter. . . youll have to drop the weight first! i was 53 and 210. i went and asked the initial questions i had and figured out what standards i needed to to. i have since dropped around 60 lbs and am currently in dep for the navy. it makes your life easier to make sure you are with in weight standards because ting taped sucks. drinking lots of water and cutting calories as well as working towards basic pt numbers for your age will help you drop it down quick! good luck. . . wine got it right on the nose. until you are in the tar weighit they wont let you enlist. unless of course you pass a tape test but with 50 pds (nothing wrong with that especially since you want to improve yourself) you wont pass the test. instead take the next few months to in shape the healthy way. start with a running program and pushupsit-up program, drink plenty of water, and watch the calories. that way you pass the standards, do well on your pt tests, and have an easier time acclimating to the marines.. . . nope. dep means you have enlisted and are awaiting training.you cant enlist until you meet the enlistment standards.. . . no! being in dep means you can ship to basic training at any time. unless your recruiter is desperate he wont even send you to meps until youre 5 - 10 pounds under you max weight!. . . a little of both, they will be willing to work with you but they need to see that you have something to work with.. . . no, you have to pass the physical to go into dep.
