"During periods of heavy peertopeer congestion, which can degrade the skills for all those customers, we use several network management technologies that, when necessary, enable us to delay not block some peertopeer traffic. However, the peertopeer transaction will eventually be completed as requested," <Comcast>Online Services Senior VP Mitch Bowling] said.
However, after making headlines along with the move, Comcast has owned as much "delaying" peertopeer traffic. In particular, the AP quotes the satellite service company as saying it "may block initial connection attempts between two computers," many "eventually lets the traffic through if for example the computers keep trying."
On Monday, news broke out that Comcast was restricting peertopeer file sharing on protocols like BitTorrent, eDonkey, and Gnutella. Some Isps simply hamper peertopeer traffic, but Comcast was believed block outgoing P2P traffic altogether. When asked by means of Associated Press, the merchant denied this kind of filtering was developing. "Comcast does not block to enjoy any applications, including BitTorrent," they said, as it took need to point out that it "uses sophisticated processes to keep Net connections running nicely."
The AP says its testing is in keeping with Bowling's explanation. "In one case, a BitTorrent file transfer was squelched, apparently by messages generated by Comcast, the choices start 10-20 minutes later. Other tests were called off after around A few moments, as the transfers were stifled," the good news agency explains.
Comcast owns up to BitTorrent hampering
